Our client designs, develops, and manufactures professional instrumentation used by some of the world’s top brands in the fields of industrial, environmental, and scientific measurements. They mainly focus on Original Design Manufacturing (ODM), which means they design new products for their customers based on the solid foundation of core competencies in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality.  They are one of the largest ODM companies in Taiwan that specialize in handheld instruments.

Our client focuses on manufacturing these products to be directly shipped to our customers outside of Vietnam. The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for identifying, selecting, and qualifying local Vietnamese suppliers of our core commodity Raw Goods (RG). The list of core commodities includes: packaging (shipping and colored product boxes), printed materials, PCA/EE components, plastic and rubber injection molded parts, extruded aluminum and brass parts, CNC metal parts, and other customized parts. The Sourcing Engineer will be working with a local sourcing agent partner to handle coordination and communication directly with the suppliers.

• Demonstrating clear and thorough understanding of the company’s part composition (drawings, materials, critical parameters, etc.).
• Retrieving and understanding all part specifications (drawings, etc.) from Taiwan Engineering group.
• Efficient and effective communication with sourcing agent and suppliers to ensure they fully understand the needs of the company.
• Demonstrated technical understanding, evaluation, and troubleshooting on questions that come up during securing appropriate supplier.
• Demonstrated understanding of timelines of need including samples stage, pilot stage, and start of mass production phases.
• Understanding of part piece cost in both Taiwan and Vietnam to help evaluate the alignment of cost goals for the company.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with sourcing agents and suppliers.
• Deep understanding of commodity production processes such as metal extrusion, CNC milling, die-casting, PCA manufacturing, and printed material fabrication.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in Vietnamese and basic English communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
• Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Materials, Sourcing, and Supplier teams.
• Ability to assess technical risks, analyze issues, and make sound decisions with limited information.
• Experience as a Sourcing Engineer, Component Engineer, Commodity Engineer, or in Materials Purchasing is an advantage.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to visit and work directly with suppliers at their manufacturing facilities when required.
