Main Responsibilities

  • Provide sourcing support through interaction with potential suppliers as well as providing product concept alternatives directly to Company based on suppliers’ core competencies
  • Responsible to identify Asia suppliers with new capabilities to generate concept options for new products or to meet product development requirements
  • Responsible for sourcing materials, evaluating supplier quotes, and negotiating costs to determine most desirable supplier
  • Capacity/ constraint management
  • Work with suppliers to assure the International and USA weekly Open Order reports are accurate, complete and provide critical update information in a timely manner. Manage the processing and reporting of the weekly Open Order reports
  • Provide Asia supplier support for WIP component order and logistics processing by working across the enterprise and directly with the warehouse on the timing requirements
  • Arrange support for new product development efforts by aiding suppliers with material management for pilot samples and first production
  • Provide material purchase order status communication to and raw material/component follow up to support FG POs
  • Work with suppliers to issue component material orders via B2B transaction are completed immediately upon Finished Good PO receipt 
  • Work with Company on processing the B2B orders and manage the Material Authorization process when necessary
  • Work cross-functionally to develop contingency plans to offset component or raw material shortages or lead time issues
  • Support suppliers to meet Company purchase orders, supplier production orders, supplier requirement forecasts, and supplier/manufacturing pre-build strategy for purchased and/or manufactured finished goods, raw materials and/or semi-finished goods
  • Responsible for product quotation and timeline management of all new projects to make sure new projects are completed on time by working closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Assist Engineering and suppliers to successfully develop and execute new product introductions for U.S. and International businesses
  • Manage Company visits by arranging itineraries, scheduling supplier visits, and other related requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement and Six Sigma/Lean projects
  • Support other admin task like: travel arrangement, event organization as per manager’s request

Requirements

Familiarity or experience with the following manufacturing and assembly processes is highly valuable:

  • Manual and automated production lines
  • Gluing, joining, pencil sharpening
  • Printing and print press operation
  • Blister sealing, thermoforming
  • Injection molding and blow molding
  • Sonic welding


Background in supply chain planning within an international consumer products environment, particularly with products such as:

  • Writing instruments (e.g., markers, pens, pencils)
  • Paints, inks, clays, doughs, and other compounds
  • Printed and bound materials (e.g., books, paper)
  • Activity sets or toys


Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with:

  • Capacity planning and constraint management
  • Inventory and warehouse management
  • Forecasting and raw material planning
  • Managing multi-component products and complex supply chains
  • Coordinating supplier actions and resolving order fulfillment issues


Experience working directly with CPG manufacturers or as an intermediary, including:

  • Negotiating and problem-solving with suppliers
  • Driving supply chain improvements and action plans
  • Familiarity with A3 problem-solving and root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies (certification is a plus)


  • Strong command of English (written and verbal) is required
  • Proficiency in Chinese is an advantage
  • Minimum of 6 years in supply chain or a related field is preferred
